Hi there. I’ve really loved your post and currently exploring starting therapy again for myself due to relational trauma. I’ve missed this workshop though, is there a recording

I'm rooting for you! We did record the workshop for those who registered ahead of time but couldn't be there in person. If you want to email support@lissarankin.com, I'll ask my team if there's a way we can add you retroactively. Good luck!

What about when both partners have a traumatised nervous system? For example one person with ADHD type behaviours/traits and the other with autistic traits? One person functions well in areas that the other person doesn’t.

That's a whole different blog to write! I think those relationships tend to wind up more balanced because people tend to over-function or under-function differently. It has its own challenges when two people both have a traumatized or neurodiverse nervous system, but it seems those folks at least understand each other and accept their differences more readily than when there's a disparity. What do YOU think? I'd love to hear from you.

This sounds like a great book! How exciting 🤩

Me and my partner do a monthly check in on our anniversary date where we review the previous month, discuss how we’ve been feeling, share any insights gleaned and agree what we want to create in the month ahead.

I would have had the most traumatised nervous system (leading to disability by chronic illness) but I’ve been on a monumental healing journey now for nearly 7 years.

Because of this I’ve absolutely come to learn that trauma is at the root of it all though I appreciate we are a far way from recognising that globally right now. Not just from this lifetime but past and ancestrally too as well as self inflicted (avenues of trauma I don’t see talked about as much).

I’ve recognised health is something we can create, rebalancing my hormones and healing trauma has been a big part of my journey. Our understanding of health and the complexities of illness is so lacking. It sounds like your book will go some way to bringing about some detailed clarity in this respect.

I love your practice of the monthly check in! I like the idea of putting it on the calendar and making it a part of your routine to do a check in. We do a morning check in almost every day, but then it's more granular. I can see that a monthly check in might allow us to see and track and celebrate where there's progress. I'm glad your health is improving as well. And I completely agree with you that we are way too far away from really dealing with the links between trauma and chronic or life-threatening illness in our medical system and medical education! That's part of what Jeff and I are passionate about influencing, so we appreciate the validation! Thanks for reading and caring about what I write.
