I am also just pondering how growing up with a narcissistic parent - especially one who is very paranoid about the world and sees threat everywhere - can also create the opposite. That it can result in protector parts building walls so big and so high that we don't let anyone in, even the good, kind people who treat us well. That trust can be very hard to establish at all after narcissistic abuse.
